Jakarta, 7 November 2022 – Continuing to be the solution for money transfer needs in Indonesia, RemitPro is expanding its range by partnering with MoneyGram, one of the largest money transfer platforms in the world, to make it easier for Indonesian Migrant Workers (IMW) to send money to their families in Indonesia.
RemitPro, a technology-based money transfer service from Indonesia, consistently pays attention to the difficulties of IMW families who generally live in small towns and rural areas to get money sent by IMW from abroad. Infrastructure constraints such as the location of ATMs or bank branch offices that must be reached and the unavailability of the nearest post office to make cash withdrawals make RemitPro strive to provide convenience through the provision of a network of Cash Cashiers (TPT) spread across small towns and villages, especially for IMW.
The company sees a heavy dependence on financial transactions abroad and limited access to banking in a number of areas. This collaboration is realized as one of the steps to make it easier for IMW to visit MoneyGram locations abroad to send money from around the world, while RemitPro completes this facility for IMW families in Indonesia by providing TPT locations to collect the remittances in cash.
President Director of RemitPro, Arman Bhariadi said, “The first phase of the collaboration with MoneyGram includes cash-to-cash transfer transactions, where families of Indonesian Migrant Workers (IMW) recipients of remittances can come to the nearest RemitPro location network to withdraw cash. IMW transfer funds using the MoneyGram network abroad. It is hoped that this collaboration can provide more convenience and ease of transactions for all people, especially IMW families in Indonesia.”
Arman added that currently RemitPro has more than 500 TPT locations equipped with access to the RemitPro platform to allow the public to receive cash transfers of up to Rp. 25 million. In some locations, disbursement can even be made with a nominal value of up to Rp. 100 million. As Digiasia Bios remittance platform, RemitPro supports Digiasia Bios vision of democratizing financial services for Indonesia people through collaboration with MoneyGram.
This is evidenced by continuing to expand the TPT network, especially in locations far from ATMs or bank branch offices and post offices in order to provide easy access to financial services in the territory of Indonesia. RemitPro also seriously maintains the availability of cash for disbursement of shipments, which is then also supported by longer TPT operating hours – open early and closed late. Some TPTs also remain open on Saturdays and Sundays as well as national holidays.
“It is this commitment that makes our partners happy to have a collaboration with RemitPro. Our partners see access to financial services and RemitPro’s network of partnerships that continues to grow and spread from cities to villages, to provide financial transaction services that can be carried out more comfortably by PMI families wherever they are located,” said Arman.
Arman explained that the strategy implemented by RemitPro is an added value in the form of ease and convenience of transacting for MoneyGram. Furthermore, RemitPro and MoneyGram are also exploring to work on the digital money transfer market which expected to be able to provide even better convenience and comfort for Indonesian people to draw and send money.
“Through cooperation, innovation, facilities and technology, we hope to continue to serve, facilitate payments across regional and national borders, and become the solution for the needs of remittances for people in Indonesia. Not only that, we also stick to our commitment to continue supporting the government’s mission in encouraging the growth of financial literacy in Indonesia,” concluded Arman.
